From Tension to Relief: A Path to Pelvic Floor Health

Pelvic floor dysfunction is far more common than most people realize. From urinary leakage and chronic pelvic pain to digestive issues, sexual discomfort, and postpartum tension, many people experience symptoms that affect their daily lives—but few know where to turn for support. As part of my commitment to continue providing comprehensive care in Dallas TX, I completed over 50 hours of advanced training and certification in pelvic floor acupuncture and dry needling under the supervision of Dr. Jamie Hampton, DAOM, LAc., a clinical pioneer and the first licensed acupuncturist to provide comprehensive acupuncture care within the pelvic floor in the United States! This specialty allows me to address these widespread concerns with evidence-informed, gentle, and effective treatment options.

What Is Pelvic Floor Acupuncture & Dry Needling?

The pelvic floor is a complex network of muscles, fascia, and nerves that supports your core, spine, bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs. When these muscles become tight, weak, overactive, or imbalanced, it can lead to a wide range of symptoms, including:

  • Pelvic pain

  • Urinary urgency or leakage

  • Constipation or digestive discomfort

  • Painful intercourse

  • Menstrual or reproductive concerns

  • Low back, hip, or sacral pain

  • Postpartum tension or recovery challenges

Pelvic floor acupuncture works by using ultra-thin, sterile needles to restore movement, release tension, regulate nerve signaling, and encourage healthy blood flow to the pelvic region.

Pelvic floor dry needling, rooted in Western musculoskeletal medicine, targets specific trigger points in the pelvic floor and surrounding muscles to reduce pain, calm spasms, and improve function.

Together, these therapies create a powerful, integrative approach that supports healing from the inside out.

What to Expect During a Session

Your comfort always comes first.

Pelvic floor work may involve external points throughout the musculoskeletal region of the pelvic floor, externally around the vaginal wall or rectum, depending on your condition and level of comfort. Clothing removal is never required or asked without consent, and you’ll always be informed about what to expect before anything happens. Many people find the treatment surprisingly gentle and deeply relieving.

Sessions often include:

  • A thorough intake to discuss your pelvic health history, pain patterns, urinary and bowel habits, and stress levels

  • External only (never internal!)  pelvic floor acupuncture and dry needling, with full consent

  • Abdominal, hip, or low-back treatment to support the whole region of the pelvic floor

  • Nervous system balancing to calm stress and tension

  • Gentle recommendations for home care or lifestyle support
